LBz Weekend Review

We had a fun weekend picking up litter!  The kids off Fairhill in Shaker Heights had a great experience.  They found the most littered object was cigarettes.  The blue trash bag brought a great deal of awareness to the kids.  As they picked up litter they constantly asked, “is this recyclable?”.  It was a learning experience for everyone including myself as Kristina is very good with the kids and teaches very well.  She really got the kids going!  The kids formed friendships.  As we moved, more and more children asked to participate.  We would give them a shirt for their efforts.

Carmonita and I set up a table at the “She’s Lit” event off of Kinsman and raffled off 5 cleaning kits to the young ladies.  Carmonita is inspired to help young ladies develop confidence.  She is an educator at heart and loves to empower individuals.  Many ladies are responsible for the growth of the LitterBugz so I explained to them how important their role is to their school friends and neighbors.  This is an annual event and we look forward to participating next year.  The Coit Road Farmer’s Market clean-up was also great.  We nearly cleaned up an entire block.

Litter attracts litter.  Cleanliness attracts cleanliness.  People who litter can be educated to stop.  Making it cool to be clean changes minds.  That is exactly what we are striving to do.  Create change to improve cleanliness and clarity.  Without litter, there wouldn’t be so many distractions.  Young entrepreneurs can focus on their dreams.  In November, we are hosting a Leadership Conference to bring territory coordinators from all over.  It will be educational.  We hope it will also turn into an expo.  We are offering sponsorship levels in hopes to have environmentally friendly products available.  Please email thebug@thelitterbugz.org for more info!!
